Notes About The Songs 1. WASHINGTON COUNTY -- Kenny Baker This classic fiddle breakdown was written by bluegrass legend Kenny Baker. Our guest fiddle player Dylan Yost does a splendid job of paying tribute to this long-time member of Bill Monroe’s Bluegrass Boys. We think you’ll agree. 2. WALKING AND TALKING FOR THE LORD -- Carl Story & his Rambling Mountaineers Lea sings lead on this good ol’ gospel number that holds us to account for our daily relationship with our Lord. 3. GRANDPA WAS A FIDDLER -- Bob Price Our banjo player wrote this song about his dad’s father who was crippled for much of his adult life and died in 1936 when Bob’s dad was just a boy. Grandpa’s talents on fiddle were a welcome addition to the farmstead dances that offered folks entertainment and diversion through the bleak Dust Bowl and Depression years. 4. I WILL ALWAYS BE WAITING FOR YOU – Jim & Jesse McReynolds Gail and Lea have a lot of fun singing tunes of the McReynolds brothers. Gail sings lead on this one, which follows a familiar theme of undying love. 5. LOOKING THROUGH THE WINDOWS OF HEAVEN -- E.C. Arnett Here’s another great song that was recorded by Jim & Jesse McReynolds. It reminds us not to miss our opportunity to get right with God. 6. THIRTY YEARS OF FARMING -- Fred Eaglesmith This song has a theme that many farmers or anybody who’s experienced tough times will be able to relate to. 7. WAIT A LITTLE LONGER PLEASE JESUS -- Hazel Souser and Chester Smith Beseeching Jesus to "wait a little longer" in order to ensure that our loved ones will join us in heaven is this good ol’ gospel song’s message. 8. BULLY OF THE TOWN -- Traditional Many artists have recorded this tune over the years such as Uncle Dave Macon, Stringbean, and Mother Maybelle Carter. 9. HARD TIMES -- Stephen Foster Americana legend Stephen Foster wrote this poignant song. They don’t write lyrics like this anymore. 10. A HUNDRED YEARS FROM NOW – Lester Flatt No bluegrass CD would be complete without at least one song from master songwriter Lester Flatt. We miss you Lester but the songs you wrote still bring enjoyment to millions. 11. ARE YOU WASHED IN THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB – Elisha Hoffman You’ll easily find this song in any old hymnal, and for good reason. Elisha Hoffman wrote it in 1878 and its message is as true today as it was then. 12. GRAVE IN THE VALLEY -- Don McHan Another great tune the McReynolds brothers recorded tells of undying love beyond the grave. 13. YOU’LL BE REWARDED OVER THERE -- Louvin Brothers The Louvin brothers wrote many wonderful and well-known songs including "If I Could Only Win Your Love", "When I Stop Dreaming" and "Cash on the Barrel Head". One week before we arrived at the studio to record this CD, we discovered this great gospel duet and worked hard to learn it. We think it’s one of our best efforts and hope you’ll agree
