About the Songs

1.  I DON’T CARE -- Buck Owens

Gail steps out on the lead to this favorite Buck Owens song. The title provides ample one-liner jokes for us at shows and jams.

2.  GOSH I MISS YOU ALL THE TIME Jimmy Long

Lea and Gail sing several of the duets that were recorded by Jim & Jesse McReynolds. Lea takes the vocal lead on this song about lonesome love.

3.  GOLD RUSH Byron Berline

Byron Berline wrote this song while playing in Bill Monroe’s band. Lea gets an opportunity to stretch out on the flat-top guitar and special guest artist Dylan Yost lends his outstanding talent on fiddle.

4.  EVERYTHING WAS SWINGIN’ - Bob Price

Our banjo player Bob wrote this song after our band was bantering about certain aspects of the entertainment business. These are the bare facts, folks. ☺

5.  HICKERNUT RIDGE Ron Sweet

Nostalgic remembrances of home and family are the themes of this great song.

6.  LITTLE WHITE CHURCH Arthur Lang (music) / Jeff Branan (lyrics)

Recorded by Mac Wiseman, the Little White Church is becoming a new band favorite.

7.  CATFISH JOHN — Bob McDill, Alan Reynolds

Rick features his 1927 Gibson mando-banjo on this song, giving the tune a wonderful river delta sound. The back of the instrument can be opened up for extra volume and the band has nicknamed it Quasimodo, or Quasi for short.

8.  BIG COUNTRYVernon Derrick / Jimmy Martin

We learned this tune from our good friend Emery Hale, now deceased. Jimmy Martin recorded it with J.D. Crowe and the tune is often a fresh sound in jam circles.

9.  LOVE’S GONNA LIVE HERE AGAIN Buck Owens

Another song recorded by Buck Owens, the lyrics are full of optimism for the return of romance and happier times.

10.  DUST ON THE BIBLE Johnny & Walter Bailes

Rick makes his vocal debut on this great gospel song.  The song has been recorded by such greats as Kitty Wells and Hank Williams.

11.  WALTZ ACROSS TEXAS  B. Talmadge Tubb

Everyone will recognize this familiar tune and it’s a favorite sing-along during our shows.  Dylan Yost does a splendid job on fiddle.

12.  ANGELINA BAKERStephen Foster

This song which was published in 1850 is typical of Civil War era old-timey music. We feature Gail on fiddle, with Rick on the claw-hammer banjo. Our sound engineer even fills in on bass.

13.  THE OLD ACCOUNT — Frank M. Graham

Everybody gets into the vocal act on this gospel song that was published in 1909. Rick believes that he has the most important part. We all agree.

14.  SO YOU TELL METom Croley

Introduced to us by friend Cliff Newsome, we are pleased to feature this song written by young songwriter Tom Croley.   We think it’s a winner!
