Empty Pockets String Band is a hot new acoustic band featuring bluegrass music in the style of Earl Scruggs and Bill Monroe.  These four veteran musicians became acquainted by chance in 2006 at a jam session in south Texas.  They have been playing music together ever since.

The group features Bob Price playing the 5-string banjo and vocals, Lea Price on guitar, mandolin and vocals, Rick Dakon on mandolin and frailing banjo, and Gail Dakon on bass, fiddle, and vocals.  Toe-tapping songs and instrumentals, sacred gospels, melodically pleasing vocal harmonies and clean comedy provide a very crowd-pleasing performance.

Bob and Lea are originally from Kansas and now make their home in Mission, Texas.   Rick and Gail are retired winter Texans from Smithville, Missouri.

In 2007 Empty Pockets recorded their first CD “Join Us on Our Journey” .  Their second CD "Bluegrass in the Pines" was recorded in 2009.  Both CD's are for sale by contacting us.  Empty Pockets performs at park shows, private events and festivals around the Rio Grande Valley and in the Midwest.
